How can art empower people? And how can people, though art, improve their inner side? „Man in the mirror“ was an international youth initiative that explored these and many other questions. The project took place last week in Raplamaa, Estonia, and gathered 65 youngsters from Italy, Romenia, Portugal, Wales and Estonia around the theme „Starting with Yourself“.

During a week, participants worked on their skills to improve confidence and knowledge about themselves. Through different forms of art – dance, music, circus/clowning, puppetry and mask theatre -, they were able to find qualities that are many times prisioners of the social structure we live in.

The initiative integrated Drums for Peace network and resulted in two performances and flashmob actions in Tallinn and Kohila. In interview, Nikolai Kunitsõn, project leader of „Man in the Mirror“ in Estonia, shares some thoughts about this „wonderful learning week“.
